Sustainable office design offers excellent value for money, according to experts.
Building consultant Michael Mobbs told ABC’s The World Today programme that the real costs comprise of environmental penalties.
Describing one office development at 376-382 New South Head Road, Double Bay, he said that features such as maximum natural lighting and rainwater collection can help to eradicate the cost of what other offices may pay for in the long-term.
The developer behind the building, Lesli Berger from Fivex Commercial Property, also told the show that despite the cost, the offices were worth persevering with and that they were ‘definitely not going to lose money.’
In October 2006, property firm LandMark White released a report indicating that almost 620,000 sq ft of new office space has entered the central Sydney market during the last three years.
It is also predicted that a period of construction to build further offices in the city will begin in the near future.
